The magisterial inquiry into the suspicious death of Mr. Kapila Chandrasena, former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, was called today (14) before Colombo Fort Magistrate Mr. Pasan Amarasekara. It was revealed that no footage was recorded by the security camera system installed at the location where the death occurred, and this fact has drawn the special attention of the investigating officers.

The police informed the court that the camera system installed at the residence of renowned cricketer Mr. Aravinda de Silva, where the death occurred, appeared to be active at first glance, but due to the storage and recording process of its footage being inactive for a long time, no footage was captured by the system at the time of death.

However, due to the absence of footage from that location, investigating officers have taken footage from CCTV systems installed in nearby houses, covering the entry and exit routes to the relevant house, into police custody and steps have been taken to submit them for further investigation.

Submitting a further report related to this investigation, the Colombo Crimes Division informed the court that another house belonging to the late Mr. Kapila Chandrasena, who passed away on May 12th, was searched under a search warrant. A laptop computer and several documents suspected to contain important information found in that house were presented to the court today by the police as case exhibits.
