President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized that the current government is the strongest administration ever formed in this country and has earned the highest trust of the entire population. The President stated this while addressing the May Day rallies organized by the National People's Power (NPP) in Nuwara Eliya and Maharagama, commemorating International Workers' Day.

He pointed out that while past governments increased privileges for rulers and oppressed the people, the current government is only making decisions to uplift the living standards of the working people by cutting down on rulers' privileges. He also mentioned that the people of the North, South, East, and Malaiyagam (hill country Tamils) now have complete trust in the government, and this is the first time in Sri Lankan history that the people and the government are united.

Commenting on the strict enforcement of the law against the corrupt and fraudsters, the President assured that 2026 would be the year such criminals are sentenced to prison. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Bribery Commission have already been strengthened, and even houses used by former ministers have been allocated for the activities of the judiciary and the Bribery Commission. He revealed that ten cases would be heard this month alone, and the verdict in one of them is expected to be announced soon. The President further stated that the law would be applied equally to everyone, regardless of the family background of presidents or prime ministers.

At the Maharagama rally, the President explained that a slight increase in fuel prices might occur in the future due to the global energy crisis and the war situation in the Middle East. The government is currently providing a subsidy of one hundred rupees per liter of diesel, for which an enormous sum of six hundred billion rupees has been allocated. He also stated that if electricity tariffs have to be increased, fifteen billion rupees have been allocated to provide relief so that 96% of consumers are not affected. Furthermore, the President reaffirmed that, as promised during the election, electricity tariffs would definitely be reduced by one-third during his tenure.

At the Nuwara Eliya rally, attention was also drawn to the steps taken by the government to resolve the fundamental issues of the Malaiyagam (hill country Tamil) people, who contribute to building the country's economy. Accordingly, the government is intervening to grant land ownership for housing construction, and the amount previously provided for housing, sixteen lakhs of rupees, has now been increased to twenty-five lakhs. The President stated that roads and bridges would be constructed with saved funds without obtaining foreign loans, and he also announced that discussions have been held with the Ministry of Education to swiftly fill all existing teacher vacancies in Tamil medium teacher training colleges to uplift the education of children in the plantation sector.
