The 48-hour token strike that was implemented in government hospitals across the island ended today (11) at 8.00 AM, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) states. Accordingly, the association confirms that normal services have now been restored in all hospitals across the island.
Commenting on this matter, the Media Spokesperson for the Government Medical Officers' Association, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, stated that doctors have reported for duty as usual after 8 AM today. He also emphasized that the entire hospital system is currently engaged in its daily operations and patient care services without interruption.
However, the media spokesperson stated that the association would discuss what professional action it intends to take in the future at the upcoming executive committee meeting and arrive at a definite decision. Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe further added that they expect to promptly inform the country of these future decisions after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, and since the relevant issue has now been referred to the courts, future actions will be planned with close attention to that as well.
