Two SLTB buses that crashed at high speed in Weerawila become a single wreck - 4 deaths

This morning, an extremely dangerous road accident occurred near the Weerawila Thurusewana junction on the Ambalantota - Kataragama main road. Four people have died in this tragedy, and about forty other passengers have been severely injured.




The cause of this accident was a severe head-on collision between two buses belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board. One of the buses was reportedly traveling from the Colombo area to Kataragama, while the other was operating from Tissamaharama town towards Karapitiya. After the extremely severe collision, the front parts of both buses became a single pile of twisted metal, along with the fragmented bodies of the deceased. JCB machines had to be used to separate the two buses.

At the time of the accident, a large number of passengers were traveling in both buses. Immediately after the accident, the local community and police officers worked together to promptly hospitalize the injured. Hospital sources confirm that the condition of several patients receiving treatment is critical.




The exact cause of this horrific road accident and further investigations related to it are currently being carried out by the Weerawila Police.
