The Colombo Municipal Council has taken steps to completely suspend the parking fees charged within the Colombo Municipal Council area until further notice.
Deputy Mayor Hemantha Weerakoon stated that this decision was taken today (18) during a special discussion held under the chairmanship of Colombo Mayor Mrs. Vrai Kelly Balthazar, with the participation of urban councilors and relevant officials.
This step has been taken with the aim of providing some relief to the general public who are severely affected by the global wartime background and the current economic crisis, and it has received the unanimous approval of the Municipal Council's Finance Committee.
Accordingly, the Deputy Mayor further emphasized that the fee collection system for parking vehicles, which was previously in effect from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM, has been immediately removed, and no parking fees will be charged from the public until further notice.
