The Ministry of Power announces that the rumors and news circulating in society these days about an impending power cut are completely false. The Ministry points out that false information is circulating through some media and social media, particularly stating that power outages will occur because the supply of coal required for the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant has been disrupted by the upcoming April.
Rejecting these false claims, the Ministry emphasizes that operations at the Lakvijaya Power Plant are currently proceeding normally without any hindrance. Out of the 36 coal ships ordered for future power generation needs, 22 have already been unloaded. Furthermore, suppliers have assured that the remaining coal stock will also be delivered as scheduled without any delay or hindrance. Additionally, the Ministry of Power further states that preliminary measures have already been taken to import coal urgently in case of any emergency.
In addition to the coal supply, it has been confirmed that there are sufficient stocks of fuel oil required for power generation activities until the end of April. Based on these facts, authorities clarify that there is no risk of any power cuts. Therefore, Mr. Shan Mohamed, Media Secretary to the Ministry of Power, requests the public not to believe such baseless and misleading news and not to be deceived.
