Pitiduwe Siridhamma Thero was accused on a number of occasions for engaging in a 'marketing' activity by creating a sensation by himself after spreading contrasting ideas related to Buddhism. 

Sometime back Pitiduwe Thero gained recognition as a thero who had a flair for analysing subtle points of the dhamma in a colourful manner across sermons delivered by him over ITN, Doramadalawa and Swarnavahini. However, of late, because of various wavering activities the thero
became unpopular. Having disreputed the Daladawa by comparing it to a pig's tooth, intricate dialogues began to circulate among the sangha too and he had to bow down before Malwatta Maha Nayaka Thero and tender his apology for comments made by him. Subsequently he was silent for a number of months and then got involved in a 'battle' with a reputed thero such as Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero when Pitiduwe Thero launched  further 'marketing' programmes. 

Iraj, who carved a name for himself as a YouTube star had been providing this thero all necessary assistance because he was a chief donor of the temple and a bosom friend of the thero. Pitiduwe Thero who was subjected to numerous criticisms having claimed that he has achieved the status of an arahat, further has gone to the extent of celebrating his birthday every year in grad style in his ashram in the manner of a Mahayana bhikku. Providing fish, meat and eggs one year and on another year having employed young men and young women to sprinkle flowers on the thero while he was walking on the roads, there were upheavals about that birthday. It was thero's bosom friend Iraj who had provided a topic to be propagated across the social media this year 2019; remarking that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has come and bestowed the famous 'Louis Vuitton' pirikara to the thero. It is a humorous condition of this 'marketing' procedure that it is he who makes this comment and after that it is he who makes the thero himself respond to it.
