The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has confiscated several properties worth billions of rupees belonging to Salindu Malakshitha alias 'Kudu Salindu', a large-scale drug trafficker and organized criminal hiding abroad. Further long investigations conducted by the relevant authorities have confirmed that all these properties were purchased using illegal money earned through drug trafficking.

Among the properties thus confiscated are a 21-perch land and a house located in the Alubomulla area of Panadura, valued at over two hundred million rupees. In addition, a 40-perch land, a house, a warehouse complex, and a shop room located at the Mahabelana junction on the Panadura-Ratnapura road are also among the properties confiscated by the government, and their value is close to four hundred million rupees, according to police sources.

On a previous occasion, this main suspect, who was hiding in a foreign country, was arrested by security forces and brought to Sri Lanka. After being produced in court, he was released on bail. It is reported that after being released on bail, he once again evaded the law and secretly fled to another foreign country.

During the recent past, a severe conflict arose between this suspect and the faction of 'Panadura Kudu Nilanga', which led to several shootings and murders being reported in the police divisions of Panadura South, Hirana, and Pinwatta. However, with the arrest of Kudu Nilanga and his gang, the conflict has somewhat subsided, and the Illegal Assets Investigation Division is currently conducting further extensive investigations into the remaining assets of Kudu Salindu, who is currently abroad.
