An official of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) took steps to suddenly suspend fuel distribution activities at a CEYPETCO filling station located in Bandaragama town yesterday (17) afternoon. The primary reason for this was the accusation that the said filling station was issuing fuel without checking customers' QR codes.

With this sudden decision, a large number of people who had been waiting in long queues for hours hoping to get fuel faced severe difficulties. When questioned about this, the employees of the relevant filling station stated that there was a technical error in the QR code system throughout the day. The employees pointed out that due to the system not functioning properly, they proceeded to provide fuel as usual for the customers in the queues.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) emphasizes that strict legal action will be taken against filling station owners who violate the prescribed instructions given by authorities when issuing fuel. To report information about filling stations committing such irregularities, the Corporation has introduced two special telephone numbers: 0112106767 and 0117296130. Therefore, CEYPETCO requests the public to provide information about places operating outside the relevant instructions through these numbers.
