Even today, 'media lies' are creating fear and uncertainty about fuel.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) emphasizes that media reports and information circulating that fuel bowsers that arrived at the Kolonnawa oil terminal returned without fuel are completely false. The Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr. Mayura Neththikumara, confirmed this when questioned about the relevant news.

The amount of fuel scheduled for distribution today was released and completed last night itself. However, he pointed out that these bowsers had arrived at the Kolonnawa oil refinery premises today with the expectation of obtaining additional fuel stocks.

Since no additional fuel was being issued, the relevant bowsers have left the premises. Accordingly, the Managing Director further explained that these bowsers were turned back not due to a fuel shortage, but because no additional stocks beyond the allocated amount were being issued.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that there are currently sufficient fuel stocks for the country until the end of May. In addition, Mr. Mayura Neththikumara informs the public not to panic unnecessarily, as further fuel orders have been placed for future requirements.

Previously, yesterday, it was reported through the same media that fuel distribution for the 21st and 22nd had been stopped, and subsequently, Managing Director Mayura Neththikumara had to correct these false reports. He points out that such fake news is being created by some disruptive media operation to create an artificial fuel shortage and to make the public disillusioned with the government.
