The Colombo High Court today (09) ordered that the case filed by the Attorney General against defendants Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and his grandmother Daisy Forest, who are accused of committing an offense under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, be recalled on April 24.
When the case was called today before High Court Judge Rashmi Singappuli, Government Counsel Oswald Perera, appearing for the prosecution, informed the court. He stated that the expert medical report, requested through the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer regarding whether the defendant Ms. Daisy Forest is in a suitable mental condition to appear for a trial, has not yet been received by the court.
Accordingly, the government counsel requested the court to postpone the trial until the relevant examination report is received by the court.
Considering the submissions made, the judge ordered the case to be recalled on April 24.
