Transferred Nalanda teachers still at home - Complaint from student's father

Reports have now been received regarding the latest situation that arose after allegations surfaced of a close relationship with the head prefect of Nalanda College, Colombo. Previously, it was reported that the teachers concerned had been removed some time ago, but according to the latest verified reports, two of the four women involved in the incident, who were permanent teachers at Nalanda, were removed after the incident. Meanwhile, it is further reported that the father of the student involved in the incident has filed a police complaint, and the principal of Nalanda has initiated a mental health enhancement program for the teachers.

It is reported that the two Nalanda teachers have been transferred to the Zonal Education Office, but due to embarrassment or other reasons, they have not yet reported to their new postings.
It was also reported that no special action has been taken against the other teacher involved in the incident because she was temporarily serving for training at the school at the time of the video recording, and the other woman was the mother of a student at the school. There is no information about her.

 Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa, also confirmed yesterday that steps have been taken to remove the two teachers from the school. The Secretary stated that the two teachers removed from the school have now been assigned to the Provincial Education Office, but 

He further stated that information has been received that they have not yet reported to the provincial office for duty.  He also mentioned that the principal of Nalanda College has submitted a report to him regarding the incident,
 The Secretary stated that based on that report, he expects to take further legal action, and it is reported that the school has also initiated an internal investigation into the incident.

A series of video phone conversations allegedly between the head prefect and two teachers circulated on social media in recent days, causing a major stir in society. Following this incident, authorities have taken steps to remove the student concerned from the school and dissolve the college's prefect board.

Meanwhile, police headquarters sources state that the student's father has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department, claiming that his son has been severely inconvenienced and greatly defamed due to the relevant video footage circulating on social media.

The prefect's father has requested in his complaint that those who released the footage to social media be investigated and legal action be taken against them. According to the received complaint, the Criminal Investigation Department has now launched a broad investigation.

Amidst allegations that the principal did not take proper action despite several previous complaints regarding the student concerned, the principal's organization of a mandatory psychological counseling session for the school's teachers has caused astonishment within the school community.

Participation in this lecture, conducted with the contribution of Dr. Anuradha Herath, a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry, and her team, has been made mandatory for teachers. It is reported that teachers have expressed their opposition, stating that it is a joke for the principal, who failed to provide proper solutions to the problem, to now offer counseling to teachers, and that one teacher had previously filed a complaint with the Borella Police regarding the principal's conduct.
