
Police shot at a lorry that disregarded orders and was driven in the Adadola area of the Ambalangoda Police Division, arresting two suspects. This incident was reported today, 2026.02.09, in the morning.
A team of officers from the Ambalangoda Police Station's Tactical Motorcycle Unit signaled a suspicious lorry, which was traveling towards Ambalangoda, to stop for inspection.However, the lorry continued to drive forward, disregarding police orders, and officers pursued it, attempting to stop it. When the lorry further attempted to flee, police officers shot at the lorry in the Wadduwa area and managed to stop it.
During a subsequent inspection, it was revealed that there were 10 cattle and 04 buffaloes inside the lorry. Police also stated that one of the cattle had its throat slit and was killed. In this raid, two suspects who were in the lorry were arrested, and 5200 milligrams of 'Ice' (methamphetamine) drug were found in their possession.
The arrested suspects have been identified as residents of Akurassa and Beruwala areas, aged 42 and 46 respectively. However, the driver of the lorry and another suspect have fled, and the Ambalangoda Police have launched further investigations to apprehend them.
