Shiranthi arrives at FCID with Mahinda to speak about the ‘222222222V’ ‘Siriliya’ financial irregularities (video)

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's wife, Shiranthi Rajapaksa, arrived at the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) a short while ago to give a statement. She arrived today (03) in accordance with a previous notification to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division.

She was summoned to give a statement regarding investigations into alleged financial irregularities in the 'Siriliya' account maintained during Mahinda Rajapaksa's tenure as president. It has also been revealed during investigations that the national identity card number '222222222V' was used when opening this 'Siriliya' bank account.

Although she had previously been notified to appear on the 27th to give this statement, she requested through a lawyer for a two-week period, stating that she could not appear on that day. However, as no medical report was submitted to confirm the request, the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division had re-notified her to appear today without fail.

The Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division initiated preliminary investigations related to this incident during the good governance government in 2015, and information about a Defender vehicle provided to the 'Siriliya' organization was also revealed during the Wasim Thajudeen murder investigations. It is also reported that on June 01, 2015, when investigators went to obtain a statement from her regarding this investigation, they had to go to the official residence of then Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organizer and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has also been notified to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today.
