A 14-year-old student studying at Lyceum International School in Panadura has been hospitalized with serious injuries after jumping from the third floor of the school building. The student involved in this incident is a ninth-grade student at the same school.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police have revealed that the student took this step due to distress caused by a warning given by a school teacher. It is reported that the teacher issued this warning based on a comment made by the student regarding an exhibition held at the school on the 3rd, and the distressed student suddenly ran and jumped from the building.

The seriously injured student was admitted to Panadura Hospital for initial treatment and then transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo for further treatment. Hospital sources state that a surgery was also performed due to a head injury sustained by the student.

Panadura South Headquarters Police and Panadura Divisional Crime Scene Investigation Laboratory officers have jointly inspected the incident site and commenced investigations. Further investigations into the incident are underway under the instructions of Panadura Headquarters Chief Police Inspector Mr. Upul Priyankara.
