Former social service officer who embezzled funds of disabled children arrested

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption states that a former social services officer was arrested on corruption charges for obtaining a one-time educational aid of Rs. 10,000/= for children with disabilities in the names of two children and using the money for his personal consumption without giving it to the children.




The person arrested is a former social services officer at the Katana Divisional Secretariat. The suspect social services officer was arrested on corruption charges for subtly obtaining the aforementioned one-time payment given by the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities for a single child and using it for his personal consumption.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is conducting investigations.
