A lawyer who was consuming drugs while lighting a kerosene lamp on the lower floor of an unused building belonging to a private bank in the Pettah, Keselwatta, Sanchiarachchiwatta area, was arrested yesterday (21) evening by a team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Keselwatta Police.
130 milligrams of 'ice' drug were found in the possession of the arrested lawyer, and the kerosene lamp, allegedly used for consuming drugs, was also taken into police custody as an exhibit. A senior police officer in the area stated that a police team raided the building and arrested him based on information received that a person was consuming drugs inside this abandoned building.
During interrogations of the arrested individual, it was revealed that he is a lawyer practicing at the Colombo Aluthkade Magistrate's Court and the High Court, the senior police officer further stated. This fifty-nine-year-old lawyer is a resident of the Kirulapana area. The police further state that the arrested lawyer is suspected to have been addicted to 'ice' drugs for a long time. The Keselwatta Police are conducting investigations to uncover information about how he obtains the 'ice' drugs.
