President Anura seeks French President's help to regain GSP concession

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently requested French President Emmanuel Macron for support to regain the GSP Plus concession for Sri Lanka after its expiry.

This request was made when President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met French President Emmanuel Macron concurrently with the "AI Impact 2026" summit held recently in New Delhi, India. At that time, the French President assured that France would provide maximum support for Sri Lanka to regain the GSP Plus concession.

Furthermore, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France hopes to provide further concessions to Sri Lanka through various trade agreements. The GSP Plus concession granted to Sri Lanka is scheduled to end in the upcoming December, and after it ends, Sri Lanka hopes to reapply for the GSP Plus concession.
