Unfortunate death of a two-and-a-half-month-old girl caused by dropping: Father arrested

The father of a two-and-a-half-month-old infant has been arrested by the Alubomulla Police in connection with an extremely tragic incident reported from the Alubomulla area. According to reports, while the father was walking around soothing the crying baby, he suddenly fell asleep, causing the child to slip from his hands, fall to the ground, hit her head on the cement floor, and lose her life.

Police state that the infant who tragically lost her life in this manner is a two-and-a-half-month-old baby named Ruseli Keayasha, a resident of Alubomulla.

The coroner, who conducted investigations into the death, had ordered the Alubomulla Police to present the infant's mother and father before her for further inquiries.

However, police state that when the mother and father were presented before the coroner, they had declared that there was no suspicion regarding the girl's death and that no harm had come to the child.

Following the post-mortem examination conducted by Chief Judicial Medical Officer Mr. P. A. Kiriella, it was reported that the cause of death was a contusion on the right side of the head, leading to bleeding into the brain and a blood clot. According to the facts revealed by this examination report, the Alubomulla Police further state that the infant's father has been arrested on charges of concealing the true facts of the incident.
