Horana Headquarters Police state that one youth has died in a horrific accident when two youths, who were competitively riding motorcycles at high speed, collided with a car near the Horana Ilimba Junction.

Police confirm that the youth who unfortunately lost his life in this accident is seventeen-year-old Sasindu Devmith Prasanna, also known as 'Shashi', a resident of Gurugoda area in Horana.

While two motorcycles were traveling at high speed from Ingiriya towards Horana, a car traveling from Horana towards Ingiriya attempted to turn into a side road. The uncontrolled motorcycles then collided with the car, causing this accident.

Both youths who were riding the motorcycles and sustained serious injuries in the accident were initially admitted to Horana District Hospital. The seventeen-year-old youth, who was in critical condition, was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries there.

Hospital sources state that the other youth involved in the accident, who is twenty-one years old, is currently receiving treatment in serious condition at Horana Base Hospital.

Both motorcycles and the car sustained severe damage in the collision. Horana Police, who are investigating the incident, have arrested the driver of the car.
