It has been revealed that the official website of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs has been subjected to cyber attacks on two occasions within the last two months.

Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ananda Wijepala, confirmed that complaints have been lodged with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Forum (SLCERT) regarding these cyber attacks. Speaking to the media, the Minister further stated that the distortion of the Sri Lankan State Emblem displayed on the Ministry's website is the most serious aspect of these attacks.

This was pointed out by the Minister as a very serious situation. He further stated that a special investigation has already been launched by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding the incident of distorting the State Emblem.

It is reported that the relevant technical divisions are actively working to strengthen the website's security systems and prevent such incidents in the future. Meanwhile, the official website of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, https://pubsec.gov.lk/, is currently inactive.

When accessing the website, a message is displayed stating that it has been temporarily deactivated and to contact the phone number or email address mentioned there for inquiries. However, it is particularly noteworthy that the inactive website still displays the Sri Lankan State Emblem distorted by hackers.
