An unfortunate incident has been reported from the Karandeniya area, where a young man who had returned to Sri Lanka after working in South Korea committed suicide by hanging himself while live-streaming on Facebook (Facebook Live). The young man who prematurely ended his life was 35-year-old Dinesh Wijewardena, a resident of Thalgawatta, Karandeniya.

The sudden demise of this young man, who had worked hard abroad to secure his family's future and his own, has deeply shocked the entire society.

According to police information, this unfortunate incident occurred on the night of the 12th. At that time, the young man was live-streaming on his Facebook account, and in the initial part of the broadcast, he was seen smiling cordially and exchanging ideas with his friends. However, at an unexpected moment, while the live broadcast was still ongoing, he hanged himself. The Police Media Division confirms that Karandeniya Police immediately launched investigations following a complaint received on the 119 emergency hotline regarding this incident. The body of the young man who committed suicide has been placed in the mortuary of Elpitiya Hospital. The reason why this young man, Dinesh Wijewardena, committed suicide has not yet been officially revealed, and Karandeniya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
