Audience is deceived - In Isuru Deshani's collection - 'Patience is not a weakness'

The love story of Isuru and Deshani, which caused a stir on social media in recent days, has been rekindled. A bar named 'Dope House' has been opened in Kandy, and these two were among the artists invited to the inaugural ceremony.

They sat, took selfies, and laughed together there.

The romantic relationship between popular actress Deshani Nehara (24) and popular actor Isuru Lokuhettiarachchi (42) emerged from the beginning as part of another act. Recently, Deshani stated that the relationship had broken down, accompanied by a photo where she had 'injured her nose,' generating both humor and sadness on social media simultaneously.

The alleged conflict between the two was a serious incident that went beyond a normal disagreement between a couple. With information about assaults and physical abuse coming to light, social media once again discussed it. This incident, which became the main topic on social media platforms including Facebook for the past few days, is notable because Deshani herself confirmed that the long-standing romantic relationship had officially ended. Deshani stated that while she was in this relationship, many people accused and criticized her, and as a result, even her parents had to face blame. 

However, she expressed gratitude to everyone who advised her, showing her both good and bad, admitting that she had been blind due to love. Through her note, she further questioned why some people behave like humans devoid of any humanity, despite being given so much value, love, and respect. She strongly criticized that individuals who do not value even basic humanity, even when receiving genuine love, behave like animals, and men who seek other women for different purposes while their own woman is by their side possess a very low mentality. She stated that such individuals have a low and weak personality, unable to live with one heart or respect responsibilities and commitments. Her analogy of Isuru's behavior, saying that a leopard's spots do not change even if it changes its jungle, drew much attention.

Following this incident, many people in the art world and on social media began to stand up for Deshani, and many expressed strong opposition against Isuru. It was stated that Isuru is a philanderer who deceives women and that his behavior should not be surprising.

Amidst a renewed social media discussion portraying Isuru as an abuser and Deshani as an innocent victim, their presence together at the Kandy event, seemingly having forgotten everything, has sparked another debate, seen by many as deceiving the audience. Meanwhile, yesterday, Deshani posted a note on her social media account stating, “Tolerance doesn’t mean weakness.” and shared several photos of herself in the outfit she wore to the Kandy event. Comments on these posts indicate that readers have criticized her for engaging in deception.

An analysis of the comments and reactions exchanged on social media reveals a highly critical discussion regarding Deshani's statement about tolerance and self-esteem. Although the party concerned attempted to define "tolerance" as strength, the majority point out that enduring disrespect, falsehoods, and emotional pressure is not tolerance but a lack of self-respect. Remaining silent in the face of undue influence allows the perpetrator to continue their wrongdoing, and

many emphasize that true love should include respect and protection. Some have described this not as tolerance but merely as foolishness or mental slavery.

Especially, the fact that she has forgotten serious incidents such as the alleged physical assaults and "nose injuries" that occurred in the previous relationship and has re-entered it has drawn strong criticism from fans. Those who warn that this could be a "love bombing" or a strategy of false declarations of love by a toxic person say that such decisions will lead to great regret in the future. Friends have expressed their sorrow, stating that this decision has even caused the individual to lose her job and has damaged her privacy.

Fans who previously stood up for the party concerned on social media say that they, who spoke on her behalf believing her past behavior and statements, were embarrassed by this sudden change. They describe displaying personal problems publicly, creating news for the entire country, and then acting as if nothing happened, as a performance in front of society. Some also predict that such decisions, made even disregarding parental objections, could eventually lead to suffering alone with children.

Although complimentary comments were made about her attire and beauty, many see spending such beauty on an unsuitable person as a crime. Furthermore, some respondents suspect that this reunion might not be purely consensual but rather a result of some form of intimidation or control (blackmail) using photos or videos. Nevertheless, the damage to the image of actors and actresses through such incidents in their personal lives and the disappointment among their fans are clearly evident from all these comments.
