The Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply, Dr. Susil Ranasinghe, announced that the government is ready to provide temporary housing for those whose houses were destroyed by the recent landslide. The Minister further stated that the necessary land for these displaced persons has been identified through the Divisional Secretaries.

He said that 95% of the water supply activities affected by the disaster have now been restored to their original state.




The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Water Supply appointed voluntary engineering advisors on the 22nd to assess the operational feasibility of the projects under the Ministry, provide advice on them, and utilize them effectively for sustainable development. This appointment was made under the leadership of Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe. The Ministry announced that there are currently active projects under foreign loan and grant assistance.

The Minister further stated that 2026 is expected to be a very productive year, and a fund of 500 billion rupees has been allocated for it. He further noted that he expects to carry out activities for a better country.
