Steps have been taken to suspend a police sergeant who maintained close relations with a female suspect named Takshi, who was arrested and detained in connection with the shooting death of organized crime gang leader Ganemulla Sanjeewa within the Aluthkade court complex.

Information has been revealed that the police officer in question acted improperly with this suspect named Nandakumar Takshi, who is being held under a 90-day detention order by the Colombo District Criminal Division.

Specifically, preliminary police investigations have revealed that this sergeant broke a single biscuit in half and shared it with the suspect, and also secretly exchanged ideas through hand signals. Due to his actions with detainees, neglecting his official duties, the Colombo District Criminal Division has suspended him from duty and initiated further investigations.

Both Ishara Sewwandi, considered the main operator in this crime, and Nandakumar Takshi, who is involved in this incident and resembles her, are currently in police custody. After the murder, Ishara Sewwandi had obtained a fake Turkish passport in Nepal, but due to a printing error, Nepalese immigration officials seized it,

Following this, the criminal gang attempted to arrange another method for her to flee the country.

At that point, J.K. Bhai brought this woman named Takshi, a resident of Jaffna who resembles Ishara Sewwandi, from India to Nepal with the aim of using Takshi's details to create a new fake passport for Ishara to flee to Turkey and Malaysia. Investigations have also confirmed that during their time in Nepal, Ishara Sewwandi, J.K. Bhai, and Ceylon Bhai stayed in the same room for about a month.

Following a lengthy and covert investigation conducted by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department, including Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, Director of the Western Province North Criminal Division, the suspects were located hiding in Kathmandu, Nepal. Accordingly, on September 13th, with the assistance of the Nepalese police, six individuals including Ishara Sewwandi, J.K. Bhai, Jaffna Suresh, Takshi, Gampaha Baba, and Nugegoda Babi were arrested and subsequently brought back to the island.
