Dr. Tejan drowned and died while bathing in the Mirissa sea

Dr. Tejan Jayasekara, who served as the Chief Medical Officer at Weligama, Walana Divisional Hospital, unfortunately drowned and lost his life yesterday (25) afternoon while bathing in the Mirissa sea.

Dr. Jayasekara, who was 49 years old at the time of his death, was immediately rescued by nearby residents after drowning and admitted to Matara General Hospital for treatment via an emergency ambulance service. However, it was confirmed that he had passed away after being admitted to the hospital.

This unfortunate incident occurred on the coastline in the Mirissa area, within the Weligama police division. It is also reported that Dr. Jayasekara had commenced his duties at Weligama Walana Hospital approximately a month ago. Weligama Police Headquarters is conducting further investigations into the matter.
