Sanjana apologizes for dressing immodestly

A highly controversial discussion has emerged on social media regarding the dress style chosen by popular actress Sanjana Gamaarachchi at a birthday party recently held in Piliyandala, attended by approximately 400 artists. She, who constantly maintains her body's beauty and is a fashionista, wore an outfit designed to expose her upper body that day, and the absence of an undergarment beneath it drew criticism from many.

This incident, which emerged as the heat of the previous incident involving singer Umaria was subsiding, escalated to a point where she faced severe backlash on limitless social media networks.

Looking internationally, public figures fearlessly choose any attire that suits their personality, and in Sri Lanka too, clothing choices are based on personal preference. However, given the cultural boundaries prevalent in this country, some cultural criticism was presented, disparaging this fashion style.

In response to the severe criticism, Sanjana Gamaarachchi issued a very sensitive statement expressing her regret and apologizing through her official Facebook and other social media accounts. Stating that she lives in Sri Lanka and therefore first lovingly apologizes, she clarified that this dress was ordered online while she was in another country, and although she had worn it abroad before, this was the first time she wore it in Sri Lanka. 

She further stated that if her fashion choice caused discomfort, anger, or hatred in anyone's heart, she sincerely apologizes to all of them, and that the love and opinions of her audience are always very valuable to her.
