Investigations into the Easter Sunday attack are highly questionable - Archbishop

The Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, said yesterday (17) that there were many questions regarding the investigation into the attack on Easter Sunday. The archbishop said he did not know if he would be satisfied with the tests but said he would ask Christians to pray to God's court in the coming days. The Cardinal said this while participating in the Ash Wednesday service held at St. Anthony's Church, Kochchikade, Colombo, yesterday (17). The Archbishop of Colombo said that while it is good to forgive those who have done wrong, it cannot be denied and justified, adding that it is a national responsibility to find the root cause of the Easter attack and enforce the law. The Cardinal said that some countries were looking to create divisions and influence in the country.

The Easter attack should be used as an opportunity for a transformation that would build brotherhood in the country, so that was not the case. Speaking at the event, the Cardinal said: Let us use this season of truth and justice as a weapon. It is good to forgive those who have done wrong, but it is impossible to justify wrongdoing. I do not know if we can be satisfied with the program being carried out in connection with this Easter Sunday attack. There are so many types; it's hard to say. We entrust this matter to the court of God and pray to Him. We must not allow the selfishness that has claimed the lives of 260 of our innocent brothers and sisters to invade the country and establish peace and brotherhood between nations and religions to find the root cause of this Easter Sunday attack to provide rules and regulations for it. It is a national responsibility. We know that local or foreign groups organized this. We must punish the wrongdoers as well as avoid doing wrong." Said the Cardinal.
