Well-known tele-actor, Caving Perera knocked down person last morning as a result one person has lost his life. Further information has been revealed about the incident by now. 

This accident has happened around 12.45 early at dawn. It is understood that some workers of road development authority had been in the process of drawing white lines on the road at Welekade Junction, Kalalgoda, Thalangama. Kavinga had been at the driving-wheel and was highly intoxicated
was driving the vehicle from Thalawathugoda towards Pannipitiya. Because of the high speed he was driving at, the vehicle knocked down some cones placed as barricades on the road and had gone forward knocking down some workers. Kavinga who realised that one worker was knocked down, though stopped the vehicle for a moment had restarted it with the idea of fleeing from that place as soon as possible. At that moment people around and workers of the RDA had got hold of him and handed him over to police. 

The suspect who was taken into custody was produced before a doctor at Mulleriyawa hospital and on a relevant examination carried out, it was revealed that he had taken liquor. The arrested tele-actor was produced before Kaduwela court yesterday and was ordered to be kept in remand custody by magistrate, Mr. Prasanna Alwis till 3rd of next month. The deceased is one Wasantha Udaya Kumara, aged 42 years living in Welapahala, Meegahathenna. On the occasion when Kavinga was produced before court, the attorney at law who appeared on his behalf requested for bail; but the other party opposed granting him bail. 

Since it was an accident caused as a result of high-speed driving and being highly intoxicated, it was asked that he be send to remand prison. The victimised party has further demanded Kavinga to pay a sum of Rs. one lakh for funeral expenses of the deceased to which Kavinga has consented and has paid that sum of money yesterday.
