Elder brother flings sand at younger brother's face of seven month-old younger brother sleeping on bed --baby dies!

A seven month old baby who was hospitalised last afternoon (22) because of the three-year old elder brother flinging sand on the baby for the sake of fun, has passed away, Panamure police say. 

The deceased is a baby by the name of Lakshitha Deneth living in Mahayaya area in Panamure. On the day of the incident, the mother has put the baby to sleep and gone away in which instance the baby's brother who entered the room has thrown thread-like sand on the nose and mouth of his baby
brother, it was revealed across information, police say. 

The three-year old brother has told the mother, "Amme, I fed sand to malli" after throwing the sand when the mother has removed the sand on the baby's face and has run towards the road and has started wailing. The neighbours who heard this wailing rushed towards that place and hastened to take both mother and baby to Embilipitiya district general hospital and the baby has passed away while admitted to the hospital, police say. rgeant 
Sub-inspector Messrs. W.T.M.C.K.B. Bandara and police sergeant Gnanathilaka (32643) and the team have been to the house and conducted investigations. 

Embilipitiya acting magistrate, Mr. Niroshan Gamage has visited the deceased baby's house and has conducted an inquiry and instructed police officers of Panamura police to have a judicial specialist of Embilipitiya district general hospital conduct a postmortem and to forward the report to court. Crime division officer in charge, sub-inspector Eran Priyalal, police sergeant, Pushpakumara (38367), Pushpakumara (34519), Amarasiri (34519) and police constable, Ajith (46123) conduct further investigations under instructions of Panamura police officer in charge, Mr. Y.H.S.N. Premathilaka.
