Because of Roshini's abilities in studies she got the opportunity of entering the medical faculty in Jaffna university after having initially followed her education at Beruwala D.S. Senanayaka Central College and then C.W.W. Kannangara school. However, Roshini who was following her studies with the primary objective of becoming a doctor one day she unfortunately had to bid goodbye to her life tragically with her neck being severed with a sharp weapon wielded by her cruel husband. That fateful incident paved the way for her successful journey in life to end in a most tragical manner.
When she started a romance with a boy in her own village, her parents and relations of the family were against it right from the start. Though members of her family did not show much favour for her marriage, they managed to secure their consent two years back and thus the two of them entered into marriage. Though rings were exchanged, constant conflicts began to crop up over various differences of opinion and behavioural patterns. In some instances a brother of the deceased student too happened to interfere. As a final result the student had taken steps to take a divorce from her husband. The apex of the story launched last 22nd when Eranga put an end to Roshini's life in Jaffna. Her hopes of making most people live ultimately withered away in this manner ... bringing a shock to everybody. The saying, "It is man himself who becomes god in this world -- It is man himself who becomes a beast in this world" could well be adapted to the tragic finale of Roshini's life.
It is understood that her husband is affiliated to the army medical battalion ... her husband who is alleged to have murdered the 29 year old student Roshini Kanchana, the medical student. Jaffna magistrate, Mr. S. Peter Paul yesterday ordered him to be sent to remand prison till next 6th. The suspect, 30 year old Maddumage Don Eranga Dilip Kumara, a permanent resident of Beruwala area was someone who was affiliated to the army camp in Paranthan, Jaffna. The suspect connected to the incident and the deceased girl had been talking to each other along Pannei exercising strip after which the suspect has cut the medical student's neck in the afternoon of day before yesterday (22).
