An aged woman of about 80 years who was transported in a three-wheeler and left on the road in Wathukaragama area in Gawaragiriya was found last third morning by Ayagama police. This woman who was so found on a telephone call from a person in Wathukaragama was seriously sick and was admitted to Ayagama hospital.

Police say that this woman, a mother of two children resident in Walasmulla has been escorted in a
three-wheeler by her son and daughter in law saying that they were going somewhere and ultimately left stranded on the road. The woman who incidentally was even in a condition where she could speak properly and this is what she said in tears at Ayagama hospital: "My hometown is Walasmulla ... name, Manthrilage Somawathie. I have two children and it is a son and daughter. They are married and have children also. I was staying with son. Son's wife is a harsh character and always creates trouble for me. Though I told son, he does not care about it. I was at an elders' home for four years. Son removed me from there and brought me back home. Because of the problems created by daughter in law I was spending time in sorrow. Son and daughter in law said that they are going somewhere and brought me in a three-wheeler and left me on the road. I never dreamed that son would do a thing like this". In this connection officer in charge of Ayagama police, inspector of police, Mr. Rohana Chaminda and a team of policemen are conducting inquiries to apprehend suspects involved in this deplorable act.
