was called for hearing before court through a motion forwarded by criminal investigation department yesterday.
The criminal investigation department stated in the presence of court that an investigation is underway by now about the abduction of the said visa officer of Switzerland consulate office and that member of parliament Mr. Rajitha Senaratna seems to have called a media discussion about this abduction and a revelation about information concerning the present situation of the lady concerned has been made. Under these conditions, the CID further said that at a time when the petitioner Gania Bannistor Francis has not given a statement so far in respect of the incident, in order to find out information regarding what happened to this lady, unedited footages of the media discussion are necessary. The magistrate further questioned the CID about this.
Magistrate: What does the member of parliament sat at that discussion?
Criminal investigation department: 'That kidnapped lady has clearly been scared ... regarding this incident' the member of parliament has said.
Magistrate: Why wasn't a statement secured directly from the MP?
CID: My Lord ... we need to inquire into unedited footages of that media discussion at the start. After that inquiry we are expected to secure a statement from the MP.
Magistrate: Was summons issued to that lady to visit the CID to give a statement?
CID: We handed over those documents to the Swiss consulate office. My Lord.
Magistrate: Has information been received about the place where this lady is?
CID: No My Lord.
Magistrate: Did you visit her residence and inquire?
CID: Yes My Lord. We visited her home and checked. The house was closed.
Magistrate: Was anybody in the house? Who said that there is no one in the house?
CID: The watcher was there at that housing complex. He said that after last 27th inhabitants of the house have left. The watcher said that they left saying that they were going abroad.
Chief inspector of police of criminal investigation department, Mr. Ranjith Munasingha presented himself at the courts at that moment. The magistrate then ordered criminal investigation department to carry on with further inquiries and to report to courts.
A complaint was received by criminal investigation department last November 27th about an incident that a lady visa officer of Switzerland consulate office was abducted last 25th and was assaulted and sexually molested and was detained for some hours about visas being issued to one Nishantha Silva and later released.
