surrounded and attacked!

An incident is reported where some police officers who went for a raid in Bombuwala, Dodangoda, Kaluthara were attacked and beaten. 

When police raided the gambling-spot, people there had initially fled and subsequently after one suspect was taken into custody with a push-bicycle parked there; later a crowd that arrived there with wooden clubs and poles as an organised gang had
attacked the police officers, the police spokesman said. In the meantime the suspect arrested too has beat a retreat. 

A sub-inspector and a police constable driver was hospitalised and a suspect has been taken into custody in this connection and on a launch carried out later. What police mentioned was that the 39 year old suspect is a resident of Kiththawelgoda and that he is expected to be produced before courts today.
