In the match played between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at Cardiff today (10) the New Zealand team managed to clinch an easy win of 10 wickets in the World Cup Tournament. 

Sri Lanka who initially batted first scored only 136 runs in 29.2 overs. The New Zealand team however scored 137 runs in 16.1 without losing a single wicket. New Zealand captain Kayne Williamson who won the toss decided to take a bowl and Matt Henry together with Lockie Ferguson contributed much in destroying the Sri Lankan innings by claiming 3 wickets each. New Zealand
bowlers were successful in limiting the Sri Lankan team to 136 runs at the end of 29.2 overs. Opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratna managed to remain at the crease unbeaten on 52 after facing 84 balls hammering 4 fours and got his one-day half century. In the very second ball of the match Matt Henry was successful in dismissing Lahiru Thirimanna (4) while captain Dimuth who joined Kusal Perera (29) managed to get to a total of 42 runs in 47 balls. Anyhow, Henry who got into action in the 8th over clinched the scalps of Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis (0) and thus the Sri Lankan team was 3 wickets down for 46 runs, thereby placed in a difficult footing. At the moment of losing the wicket, Kusal Perera who faced 24 balls had 4 knocks to the ropes in his innings. From there onwards when 14 runs more were added to the Sri Lankan scoreboard, New Zealand bowlers were skillful enough to send Dhananjaya de Silva (4), Angelo Matthews () and Jeevan Mendis (1) back to the pavilion. Thisara Perera who next arrived at the pitch gathered 27 with 2  hits to the ropes having faced 23 balls and getting together with Dimuth built up a partnership of 52 runs in 5o balls. However, Thisara had to leave the field when he steered a catch to Trent Bolt off the bowling of Mitchel Santner, thus bringing the partnership to an end. 

Martin Guptill (73 not out) and Colin Munroe (73 not out) the two opening batsmen for New Zealand built up a partnership of 137 runs in just 97 balls and finally brought the New Zealand team to victory. Guptill scored his half century with 2 sixes and 8 fours by facing 51 balls while Munroe's half century in 47 balls comprised of one six and 6 fours.
