Sri Lanka's President who was present at the swearing in ceremony with the purpose of greeting Narendra Mody who was elected Prime Minister of India also participated in a news discussion. The President in response said that the elections commission has notified him that Presidential Election is scheduled to be held on December 7th. He also said that he has still not decided whether he would compete and added that no political party for that matter has still nominated a candidate for that matter as such.

Chairman of Elections Commission, Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya has mentioned today that Presidential Elections would be held between the forthcoming period of November 9 -- December 9. As such, the Presidential Election will be held in another 6 months. President Maithripala Sirisena who was present to attend Indian Prime Minister Narendra Mody returned to Sri Lanka this night (31) after being present at latter's moment of assuming office.
