Krishan who became Army soldier ... exorcist ... councilor of parliament, throws eritic looks on girl during exorcism 

A councilor for Southern Province, Krishantha Pushpakumara in fact is also a 'kapu mahatthaya' of a devala. He has frequently spoken about being able to come to that position because of supernatural powers. 

This councilor who is also known as 'rattharan' sometime back was an Army soldier. He was at the forefront too. On one such occasion, when he was cornered at an enemy attack in the war front and was rendered helpless, he wa saved in a most strange manner and that he was rescued in that instance

through a mysterious power, he has said. He has further mentioned that he was able to other things through the powers bestowed on him; and having left his services with the Army, then emerged as a 'kattandiya!' Subsequently he started a devala in Southern Province (Bataduwa Sri Vishnu Devala) and proceeded to launch a propaganda campaign that the said devala is endowed with miracles.

At that time the most distinguished leaders of the country used to patronise his davala. The enormous wealth which came streaming into the devala he he spent for the public altruistically and for that reason itself he achieved popularity. It was through that popularity that he comes forward for the election. 

Because of the propaganda he boasted of having spent for the development of infra-structure facilities for the people of Galle District, he managed to come first from the UNP from the Southern Province and thus achieve victory. However, 'Rattharan' who was dejected over the United National Party for sometime then decided to join Mahinda's regime during that very period itself. Thus he became a follower of Mahinda and worked with Alliance Opposition during the past period. 

Whatever it is, he continued with his devala activities and about one year before this he happened to bring a torch of burning flames to the entrance of Provincial Council and even engaged in a ritualistic ceremony against the Yahapalana regime. A dialogue went round recently for having questioned about the cocain allegation regarding the telephone call taken to Minister Ranjan and for having publicised it on a stage 'live'. 

What Mahinda Rajapaksa had commented on this incident was that 'Krishan of course is a voodoo man, no ... so he may have got hold of Ranjan by doing a hooniyam!' 

A 16 year old girl was brought some days back to Sri Vishnu Devala belonging to him by the guardians saying that the child had some satanic influence in order to get some 'shanthi karmaya' done. They had brought the girl because of the belief that he had won fame in connection with such 'shanthi karma'. Subsequently the girl concerned has darted out during the process of the ritual after  being taken inside under the pretence of dispelling  the devil from her that she was being sexually molested; thus complaining to her guardians. On that occasion they had not believed it to be true. Later on a police complaint was lodged and when police went in search of him, he had absconded.

After coming to know that a preparation is underway for summons from court, he had come and surrendered himself to police around 11 this morning, he was released on bail by court after about 3 hours by 2 in the afternoon. Magistrate Harsha Kekunawala ordered that he be released on cash bail of Rs. 25,ooo and two sureties of 5 lakhs.
