Rukantha waylaid and attacked by group of people ... after Reality defeat!

Popular singer Rukantha Gunatilleka who was on the board of judges for selecting singing stars which programme is incidentally broadcast these days across a private channel has been attacked by a contestant who could not make his mark in a round in the contest inclusive of supporters of the contestant.

The said contestant has had to leave the stage in the contest held last night (23) with Rukantha's criticisms and the judgement given by Rukantha was not to the liking of the contestant as well as his

supporters. The contest was held at a certain location in Ratthanapitiya, Boralesgomuwa and when the programme came to a close around 9.45 in the night and when Rukantha was getting ready to to proceed towards his home in Mattegoda, the said contestant has shouted at Rukantha Gunatillaka saying, "It was because of you that I lost" together with a group of his fans and had gone to the extent of dealing continuous blows on the singer. On this occasion they had attacked him and his motor vehicle as a result of which he had sustained bruises and some minor injuries. Mattegoda Police have started an inquiry on the incident. Rukantha is someone who has received an appointment as an organiser of UNP very recently.
