294 kilos in Colpetty car park!

The record-stock of 278 kilos of heroin found so far in this country in Dehiwala last December however was shattered lately with police taking two suspects into custody with a haul of 294 kilogrammes and 490 grammes. This stock was found during an operation carried out in Colpetty area by Police Narcotics Bureau and Police Special Task Force (STF). Two suspects together with two vans were apprehended during this raid, it was reported.

The raid concerned was effected when the said stock of narcotics were hidden in some latest vehicles parked at the car park near a super market in Colpetty last evening (23). Police said that this stock of
heroin was stocked as 272 parcels in 10 travelling bags inside two vans. The value of the heroin so found was estimated to the value of Rs. 2945 million with a weight of 294 kilos and 490 grammes.

The suspects who were apprehended were of the ages of 32 and 43 years and were residents of Panadura and Keselwattha areas, it was revealed. Police are of the suspicion that this stock of heroin was retained in their possession with the objective of carrying out a business in narcotics. Both suspects arrested are expected to be produced before Fort Magistrate Court today.
