Commotion because UNP MPs enter Rupavahini premises
A group of supporters favouring Mahinda has from night of October 26th had stabilised their authority at Colombo 7 National Rupavahini premises and though Mahinda has temporarily lost his position as Prime Minister, they were involved in their activities without any change, it was reported.
Even 8 pm news was presented with an anti-Ranil outlook. As a consequence of this, an agitated
environment was reflected this afternoon at Rupavahini premises. The reason for this was an unpleasantness which sprang up because of a group of persons who had come from outside.
Mujiber Rahuman of United National Front, Hirunika Premachandra, Ashu Marasingha and J.C. Alawathuwala members of parliament had come there to meet its chairman. But Mahinda supporters inside having seen them had tried to create a state of commotion, it is said. What Mujiber Rahuman, J.C. Alawathuwala had said was that they went there with the intention of informing the directors of the institution to carry out their duties without being partial.
With the onset of this unpleasant situation, the Special Task Force was called in. On that occasion it was understood that the chairman had not been present at the corporation concerned. The National Rupavahini Corporation is under the authority of President Maithripala Sirisena.
