Mahinda - Ranil join fray to settle issue whether President's first decision is right or wrong
According to judgement taken by Supreme Court this afternoon, the 13th to nullify decision taken by President Maithripala Sirisena to dissolve parliament parliament is to gather soon, news has circulated. Under such conditions parties in parliament would get together to go for a vote whether Mahinda Rajapaksa would be accepted as Prime Minister according to the initial decision taken by President Maithripala Sirisena.
Arguments have sprung up that the above-said first decision is against the constitution. Though it was understood that at the time of dissolution, a majority of 103 comprising 6 from UNP, 1 from EPDP, 1
from TNA were supposed to be the total of Mahinda faction, the media of Mahinda faction during those days revealed that another 15 or so would be joining in.
Whatever it is, what unofficial sources revealed was that the Mahinda faction has dropped down to 86. In any case it was earlier stated that 6 who represented JVP were to refrain from voting and later mentioned that if it a proposal against Mahinda; they would vote in the negative. While the 15 from TNA informed that they were in the opposing camp and the 12 Muslim members of parliament displayed no favour for Mahinda. Therefore, it will be decided whether the initial decision taken by President would be constitutional or not when parliament would convene in future.
