Uduwe Dhammaloka thero out from plane ...
a while before take off!
Uduwe Dhammaloka thero had arrived at Katunayaka Airport this morning to board a flight leaving to London for the purpose of attending some dhamma sermons during this weekend in London, England. He had thus he had gone to seat himself in the Oman aeroplane after approval of documents relevant to his departure to London subsequent to checking procedures of emigration and immigration.
However, a short while before the flight was to take off, emigration and immigration officers had
approached the thero and informed him that he could not be permitted to go on the flight. Uduwe Dhammaloka thero who was arrested in the year 2016 for keeping a baby elephant in Alan Methiniyarama Temple was rejected bail right along; but finally freed under certain conditions including prohibiting foreign travel. Because of this reason, according to legal procedures, emigration and immigration officers have detained him.
Subsequently the thero had returned to his temple and his argument is that he had been granted only a temporary removal while the argument of the officers concerned is that the removal is to take effect from next August 26th to October 12th only. The lawyers of the thero have contacted court to determine the legal position in this connection.
