Monk arrested with forged cash notes in his possession!

Chilaw police have arrested a thero with 2 counterfeit cash notes of Rs. 1000, a scanner with 2 printing machines and a stock of papers in his possession. 

This referred to thero had been residing in a raja maha vihara and when the nayaka thero of Navagaththegama - Mahameddawa Vihara had been taking treatment at Chilaw general hospital, he

had come there giving the impression that it was to look after the welfare of that monk and in the meantime had been to numerous places in Chilaw town and had bought various things by paying Rs. 1000 cash notes. On one such occasion a suspicious trader had notified Chilaw police and subsequently the thero was accosted. At the time he was apprehended the three-wheel driver with whom the thero had come had beat a retreat leaving the three-wheeler behind while the viharadhipathi who had been taking treatment at Chilaw general hospital too had fled from the hospital. Further investigations are being conducted by Chilaw police.
