Maha perahera traversing Pannipitiya

The maha perahera had been travelling the streets across Pannipitiya starting from Sri Devram Vehera. This was the eleventh occasion that this "Pannipitiya Medin Maha Perahera" was organised as an event of offering praise to the Triple Gem as a tribute offered to great kings who ruled this country with Lord Buddha's parents Mahamaya Devi and

His father king Suddhodana at the helm.

Close upon 50 elephants and tuskers with an attendance of upcountry, low-country and Sabaragamuwa traditional dances were included in this perahera. The Medin Maha perahera was made colourful with dance troupes from all parts of the island representing the aforesaid traditions.
