Story of how Bonnie Kapoor bribed mother to win over Sridevi and other unknown stories

A host of unknown stories about deceased super star Sridevi of which only some people are aware of have by now been broadcast across the Indian media. Published below are a part of those.

Srdevi is a Tamil national by birth. She later had to train herself to speak Hindi. For this very reason she was constantly found weak in that area. In the case of
some Hindi films some artistes had to be recruited to engage in dubbing procedures on her behalf.

  • Sridevi's first name was Sri Amma Yangar. Her father was a lawyer by profession.
  • Portraying the role as a child involved in the Arts at the tender age of 4 years was a matter of fate. She began her activities related to the cinema at the age of 16 till 1979.
  • Sridev was involved as a singer too in films such as Sadma (1983), Chandi (1989), Garana (1991) and Kashana Kasham (1991).
  • She received an invitation to portray a brief role in the world famous Juraisic Park (1993) of Spielberg; however, she turned down the offer because of her busy schedule.
  • In the 1980s Sridev enjoyed No.1 status in the list of actresses while among the actors it was Amithab Bachan. But because of the heavy expenditure, film producers deterred in engaging both of them. It is said that there are only 3 films that were screened where both of them acted together.
  • It  was Sridev who headed the list as the actress who earned the most during the period 1985 - 1992 in Hindi films. After her of course Madhuri Dixit and subsequently Aischarya occupied that place. At present, it is Deepika Padukone, Kangana Renolt and Priyanka Chopra who occupy that status.
  • It is said that affluent Indian nationals in Europe and America had made proposals of marriage to her. But she was not so much in a haste as such. Though Ashok Amritharj, an Indian who produced films in Hollywood had a close relationship with her, it did not materialise as a marriage.
  • Bonnie Kapoor was the one who implemented numerous strategies to win over Sridev; however he was successful in the end. In fact Sridev's mother had not given her consent rightaway at the outset because he had taken Sridev as the leading star in his films and also because he was yet another one of those wealthy producers only. To lure her into obtaining her consent he then made use of another strategy. It was in the case of the film 'Mister India'. He had invited Sridev's mother too to take part in it and when she was showing some backwardness, he ultimately promised her a sum of Rs. 10 lakhs and thus lured her into making his long-awaited victory. In this particular film Sridev had played her allotted role for Rs. 11 lakhs. Throwing this money in that manner however equalled upto grabbing Sridev.
