Tear gas for disabled soldiers who defied police orders 

There had been a pandemonium like situation in front of the the Presidential secretariat owing to the fast unto death protest and clamour of the disabled soldiers who were demanding a pension despite not working for the stipulated period.

A court order had been requested by the police

 preventing them from walking towards the presidential secretariat.This court order had been refused  by the Fort Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.

Hence as the disabled soldiers had planned they had walked towards the presidential secretariat by breaking police barricades. However the police had to reluctantly though used tear gas as there was no other means of controlling the situation.

In this connection of the request for the pension payments of the disabled soldiers the President of the  the national force for protection of the rights of the war heroes Corporal UD Wasantha and the team had organized the protest walk.Hence today the Colombo Lotus road also had to be closed temporary  it is reported.
