Youth who videoed President getting down from helicopter

President Maithripala Sirisena who was engaged on a tour in Ratnapura yesterday had arrived at Bambalapitiya Police Field Force Headquarters Grounds by helicopter and at the moment the helicopter was landing a young man who was  in a lorry closeby

had been videoing the President's arrival.

The youth aged 26 years supposed to be residing in Wellawatta is someone who is working as a driver. Having focused the camera towards the sky he had videoed this incident and with officers of Field Force Headquarters watching all the time. After the President got down from the helicopter  the attention of the security personnel then happened to draw their attention on this youth and a suspicion had emerged as for what purpose all that was taped. As such, on instructions issued by the security unit the youth was taken into custody by the police.

He who had come from Lindula area for a driver's job in Colombo and is staying in Wellawatta had never seen the President, he had said, and had exclaimed further that having observed how the President was arriving had thought of the idea that it was indeed a significant moment of interest for him to video the said proceedings and later to display it to his friends and thus had activated the camera on his phone and videoed that moment. The Terrorist Investigation Unit and the Criminal Investigation have begun investigations in this connection.
