Wild life officer who chased behind the illegal hunters shot dead
Assistant wild life Officer succumbs to death shot by illegal hunters
Today morning around 5.45 am in the Hambantota area wildlife officers had attempted to arrest some illegal hunters of wild animals. In the process one officer had died of gun shots fired by the illegal hunters.
The incident had occurred in the Hambantota police division Katuwewa area. The police have reported that the wild officers have attempted to cordon off the wild animal hunters. The assistant wild life officer had received gunshot injuries and been admitted to the Hambantota hospital where he had succumbed to his injuries.
The dead wild life officer has been identified as a 43 year old QHP Jagath Seneviratne and is a resident of Buwellagoda Walasmulla.The Hambantota police are conducting investigations.
