Meegahatenna parents taken into police custody

Mothers of 9 students have been taken into custody on the allegation that an offence has been committed when trying to admit 9 students to Meegahatenna Primary Vidyalaya forcibly which act was not endorsed legally. Deputy Minister Palitha Thevarapperuma had tried to attract the attention of the public by attempting to commit suicide in trying to admit the said 9 students to
the school concerned some days ago at which moment the children were registered under instructions of the Principal and the issue though was brought to a close in that manner later debates began to spring up about the manner in which admission was granted.

Further, admission of these students to the school has not been invalidated. However on the offence committed by the parents of those children in an illegal manner they have been arrested, police say. Whatever it is that protest ended with the Deputy Minister making an attempt to end his life and with the Principal being suddenly admitted to hospital. Meegahatenna Police further say that other people who had aided and abetted in this matter would be taken into custody and investigations would be conducted against them. The Deputy Minister had been a party to the said offence and it is necessary that he too should be arrested; however since he is still under treatment at the hospital he has not been taken into custody. The arrested 9 mothers would be produced this afternoon in courts, it is stated.
