Udayanga appears in Mahinda's background in Japan
Media reports have been published that the former President had been touring Thailand and Uganda and this time when at every occasion when he was touring Japan Udayanga Weeratunga who had carried out duties as the Ambassador in Russia had
been hovering around the former President as a phantom behind him.
He had been a suspect in the Mig Arms Transaction and the Noel Ranaweera murder allegation and at a time when it has been publicised that he would be taken into custody. The fact that under these circumstances too the ability he possesses to meet the former President in overseas countries and moving about in this manner still without any restriction being effected by International Police has caused a dialogue to surface in that connection. The diplomatic overseas passport given to him by the government at the time Udayanga was the Russian Ambassador has still not been invalidated, it had not been possible to catch him, Minister Rajitha had said recently at a media briefing.
Even a court order has been issued to Udayanga Weeratunga to provide co-operation to the Financial Crimes Investigation Department to record a statement concerning investigation procedures in relation to the serious financial fraud which had taken place in purchasing 04 Mig 27 airplanes for the Sri Lankan Air Force. The court order had been issued asking him to be present at Fort Magistrate's Court on July 15th.
It is former Ambassador Udayanga who is seen focusing a camera from behind Mahinda when the latter was attending a festival occasion in Japan as seen in this photograph.
